Karen Winship

Painter

Karen started her career as a Graphic Designer, then after having a family gained a teaching degree and subsequently taught for 15 years in a maximum secure prison as the Head of Art. In 2012 she embarked on her journey as a professional artist and educator. Earning a living from selling and exhibiting her paintings she also runs art courses locally, on line and art holidays . ‘Living the dream’, as she likes to call it, she paints mainly in acrylics but does venture into oils, watercolours, pen and ink as she is led by her subject. She is mesmerised by the effects of light on objects and how it can change the form and enjoys looking for the narrative within her work.

Karen is community minded, ‘giving back’ through her involvement in annual community art projects
